Sign of the Beaver by Elizabeth George Speare

1984 Newbery Honor Book

In the beginning Matt's father leaves to go to Quincy to get the rest of their family. Matt gets attacked by bees but he gets saved by two Indians. They get him healthy and Matt teaches the young one to read and speak better. In the middle, Matt gets invited to go to the Indian's village. Finally, in the end, Matt gets invited to move north but he declines and his family comes back after three months.

I think the book was a great story about two Indians finding a boy and letting him join their tribe but the boy declines.

4 stars = It was a great book and I recommend it to others.
