I thought this book was very enjoyable.

Sign of the Beaver by Elizabeth George Speare
1984 Newbery Honor book
It is about a boy named Matt whose dad leaves him alone and gets the rest of his family. Then he gets stung by bees and meets 2 Indians. Matt teaches one of the Indians how to read. Then they go to feast with bear stew. When the parents come back, his new baby sister only lived 5 days.
2 stars = It was very good.

Matt's parents have not come yet and Attean's tribe asks Matt to go north with them. Matt says no. His parents come home shorrtly after and all is well.
4 stars = This is a wonderful, heartwarming book.
