book by Thannha Lai
Ha and her brothers did not get along very well. Her mom stays very close to her at all times, and her dad fought in the army and sadly passed away. They lived in Vietnam and then moved to America and everyone made fun of her because she looked different from others. She had a tough time in school because she struggled with her teacher, Mrs. Washington.

Inside Out and Back Again - comments by Dasha C., 5th grade, 2012-13
Book by Thannha Lai
The girl had to move from Vietnam because of war, leaving everything she loved behind. In Louisianna she felt out of place at school because kids treated her like she was something gross. Hardly anyone was nice to her but in the end she managed.

Doctor DeSoto was a great dentist. He helped many big animals with their teeth. But he was so small! Then a fox came and he was scared. Bet the fox couldn't eat him!
