A Gathering of Days by Joan W. Blos
1979 Newbery Medal
The journal of a fourteen-year-old girl, kept the last year she lived on the family farm, records daily events in her small New Hampshire town, her father's remarriage, and the death of her best friend.
It was my favorite book ever. It's confusing about the chair in the end. She must have been excited about the baby. It was weird when I found out I died on the first page [my name is the same as her best friend's].
Pick up a Newbery Review form from Ms. Goodnight-Click in the library or print one off from the library's wiki page (click on the yellow jacket below.) Make sure the book you are reviewing is a Newbery Medal or Honor Award book. Your review must include the title, the author's name, a short summary, your thoughts about the book, and a star rating (1 star = poor to 4 stars = great). Give the review to Ms. Goodnight-Click in the library for posting.
