A girl named Hillary becomes friends with Sara-Kate who believes she has elves in her backyard. They meet every morning and afternoon to help the elves find things. Soon Sara-Kate has to leave her house and Hillary is left to watch over them.
It is given this title because they visit the elves in their backyard in the afternoon.
