1984 Newbery Honor book
Matt is a 12 year old boy and his dad left him in the forest so he can go back to Maine to get the rest of the family. Matt got hurt and these Indians rescue him. Attean and Matt become great friends. Matt teaches Attean to speak English.
4 stars = I think the book was great.
