1984 Newbery Honor
Matt's father has to go back to Quincy to get the rest of the family and Matt has to watch the cabin. Matt meets two Indians and ends up teaching Attean how to read and how to speak English. They end up being friends but then Attean has to move and Matt's family comes home and he tells them about Attean.
I enjoyed reading it so much that I actually thought I was there.
4 stars - It was a great book and I recommend it to others.
