Bears on Hemlock Mountain by Alice Dalgliesh
1953 Newbery Honor
The grownups did not believe there were bears on Hemlock Mountain. Jonathan did, and he had to fetch a pot from the other side of the mountain.

A boy named Jonathan had to go up a mountain called Hemlock Mountain to go get a pot from his aunt's house. When he got there he forgot why he came and stayed and visited. Later he found out and went back. Lastly, there were two bears chasing him so his dad came to the rescue. Everyone was safe and sound.
Jonathan's mother wants him to go to his aunt's house over Hemlock Mountain. He has a fantastic time on his way there. But on his way back there are bears. The title fits very good because there were actually bears on Hemlock Mountain.
It was pretty good. The story was very well written.
Pick up a Newbery Review form from Ms. Goodnight-Click in the library or print one off from the library's wiki page (click on the yellow jacket below.) Make sure the book you are reviewing is a Newbery Medal or Honor Award book. Your review must include the title, the author's name, a short summary, your thoughts about the book, and a star rating (1 star = poor to 4 stars = great). Give the review to Ms. Goodnight-Click in the library for posting.
