1961 Newbery Medal
Karana, an India girl, has been stranded on her island with her brother, Ramo. Ramo soon dies and she will have to live on her own. She then tames a dog and builds shelter. Then many terrible things happen to her. Her dog dies, but soon after that she gets a new one and she travels to Santa Barbara.
This book is very emotional but so interesting you can't stop reading.
4 stars - It was a great book and I recommend it to others.
