He went to a hill where there were millions of cats and brought them to the house. His wife said they could keep only one. The cats fought each other until only one was left and they took that one.

The Bears on Hemlock Mountain by Alice Dalgllesn

Newbery Honor

Jonathan was only 8 when he crossed over Hemlock Mountain because of his mother's small pot. So he had to go over the mountain to get his aunt's big pot but he was always worrying about bears. But when he almost gets attacked by 2 hungry bears he was soon in the arms of his dad.

It is named this because everybody thinks that there are no bears, but there really is.

Newbery Honor

A lot of things happen. The DePoala family moved into their new house. First there is a hurricane in 1938 which blows down trees. Then there is Tommie's first day of school and his hilarious reaction to the movie, Snow White.

It is named this because his family keeps moving and that's the street number of one of his houses that he lived in.

Caddie Woodlawn

Caddie was a young girl. Her mother almost got skinned by an Indian which frightened her because Caddie had to cross the river over to the Indian side.

It is named "Caddie Woodlawn" because it is about Caddie. It is like a biography.

Summer was the main character who lived with her uncle. Her mom went missing on the night of a very bad flood. But Summer's mom but her in a bucket when the flood came and she floated away.

It is titled "Missing May" because Summer's mom was May and the quest was for Summer to find her.

In this story there is a girl named Mary Kate. One day she saw tiny little elf houses so it was an elf village. But her friend didn't believe her until she saw the elf village and there was such things as elves.

It is about a girl named mary Kate and she wanted to tell a girl

Newbery Medal

Hollis Wood is a girl who has been about a thousand foster homes and ran away from every one. She was put with a lady who's name is Josie. Josie was an old, nice lady and Hollis also loved Josie. Eventually, Josie was too old and was forgetting things so Hollis went back to her old foster family.

It was given this title because every other chapter was about a "picture." This is a chapter about stuff from her past such as people, mountains, and all of her drawings. Hollis drew amazing pictures.
