Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH by Robert C. O'Brien

1972 Newbery Medal

Mrs. Frisby is a widow with four children and has a normal life until Mrs. Frisby's youngest son Timothy gets sick with pneumonia and has to be kept warm at all times. Then after finding a solution to go see the mysterious rats Mrs. Frisby has no choice. Where she learns about the life and mystery of the smart rat colony and learns that her dead husband died while helping the rats and that Mr. Ages the healer is intertwined with all the action. In the end everyone is safe besides two rats who are unknown.

It was a relatively good book to 4th graders. I recommend it completely. They'd like the fantasy and adventure parts.

2 stars - It was ok.
