The Tale of Desperaux by Kate DiCamillo

2004 Newbery Medal

At the first part, Desperaux is born, but he is very small with big ears and eyes open. Also, he does not act like a mouse. During his mouse lessons, he reads a book that gives him courage. He also talks to humans. When he is banished to the rats, he escapes but finds out the Princess is in danger. So he goes back down to the rats and saves her.

It was a good book, but it skipped around and went back in time too much.

3 stars - It was a good book.
