The sign of the Beaver by Elizabeth George Speare

1984 Newbery Honor Book

It is about a family who moves to Main, but only the son Matt and his father had went to Main to get setteled. Matt's father has to go back to Massachusetts and get the rest of the family. Matt is left alone at a cabin that was built for the family. Later on Matt meets an Indian tribe. They soon become friends. He teaches them to read English with a book. Soon a young Indian named Attean learned the language. Attean would later teach Matt way to hunt in the wilderness. The time was about October when Matt's family came back. He was very happy.

I think the book is a very natury book. And people who enjoy nature would love it. You would also learn a little about Indians and the way they live.

4 stars = It was a great book and I recommend it to others.
