The book starts when Sarah comes to the prairie to check out Anna's family because Anna's dad put a ad in the newspaper requesting a wife. while she's with them they make a "dune" out of hay and paint pictures. In the end, Sarah and Anna's dad gets married.
The book was given this title because Sarah is plain and she is tall.
